Second Grade News at the North Site

Welcome to the second grade class of Johnson County Central at the North Site. We have 8 students: 2 girls and 6 boys. Mrs. Carol Hemmingsen is the teacher. Our year started off by "practicing" - walking in the halls, lining up for drinks, and learning where to go and what to do if we have a fire drill. We were told the more we practice the better we get and found out that maybe there is some truth to that saying; because the last fire drill practice we had Mrs. H. gave "high 5's" to everyone! (She tells us the more we practice our flash cards and sight words the better students we'll become and we've had 2 students pass a math timed test too.)
This week we are having a special week of sharing called "Grand Show and Tell", to honor our grandparents. We will interview our grandparents and have them tell us about school when they were growing up, invite them to "Show and Tell", and work on projects about special relationships between senior citizens and children. Thank you parents and grandparents for helping us make this week so special.
Again, welcome! I am excited about this new year and hope it's one of significance for each child. I look forward to being a team member with you educating this great group of students.
