2008-09 JCC Choir Officers Elected By Peers!
by Thomas Doran
September 08, 2008
The Thunderbird choir has elected five seniors as officers for the 2008-09 school year. The election process includes interested students filling out a nomination form stating why they would make a good choir officer and obtaining three teachers signatures which imply their recommendation for those students becoming officers. A ballot is created and all members are able to vote (there is even room for write in candidates). I would note that four members were not available to vote due to school activities, however, the outcome wouldn’t have been altered. The choir officer’s aid Mr. Doran throughout the year hosting events such as the Freshmore Clinic, District Music Contest, and this year’s Singing Youth of Nebraska as well as aiding with elementary programs. With 70 singers in the Thunderbird choir, the officers play a big role assisting during the Heritage Falls Candle fundraiser, which will run October 13 – 24. This year’s officers are: President Shelby Blum obtaining 40.9% of votes; Vice President Lisa Niedermeyer receiving 37.9% of votes; Secretary Nolan Dresen pulling in 57.6% of votes; Treasurer and incumbent Lucas Sullivan gathering 42.4% of votes; and Reporter Becka Marr sweeping the process with 100% of votes (she was running unopposed)! Congratulations to all of our candidates who ran and to our new officers!
